General Info - Statewide Permit

A permit to to do taxidermy work or tan hides for a person other than himself.

If you intend to perform taxidermy work of any type on migratory birds, you must also obtain a Taxidermy Permit from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Service of Law Enforcement, PO Box 779, Hadley MA 01035-0779. Phone: (413) 253-8643.

  1. You must take the written test and submit your mount on the date of your test no later than 90 days after filing your application.

  2. If you do not pass the first test, you may take the test two more times during the period July 1 to June 30.
