General Info - Statewide License


A license is required for an individual to act as a second in a boxing, kickboxing, MMA or wrestling contest in the state of Maryland.  A second acts as a corner person in boxing, kickboxing and MMA; a second acts as a valet in professional wrestling.

The Commission carries out its mission by reflecting, and maintaining, safety and fairness as its guiding principles.  Seconds must be licensed and regulated in accordance with these principles.  The Commission strives to be fully attentive to, and supportive of, the various needs of licensees engaged in their respective fields and professions.  The Commission’s strong commitment to regulatory excellence is reflected through the work and integrity of its experienced staff of officials, inspectors and ringside physicians.
