Pest Control Consultant License
General Info - Statewide License
A pest control consultant license and certificate from the state of Maryland are required if a person is engaged in the business of offering or supplying technical advice or supervision, inspecting for or identifying pests, or recommending the use of specific pesticides for the purpose of controlling pests.
Pest control consultants are certified in Category 12 - Consulting, which is based upon experience, or education, and passing the certification examinations in those categories of pest control for which consulting services will be offered.

Must attend recertification training each year between January 1 and December 31 in order to renew certification. The recertification training requirements will be based on the categories of pest control that were originally taken for certification and in which certification services are being offered.
Why the License is required?
The Pesticide Regulation Section administers Maryland's Pesticide Applicator's Law; approves training courses in the handling, storage, and use of pesticides; conducts examinations to determine whether pesticide applicators are competent to follow prescribed pest control practices; enforces federal laws on the sale and use of pesticides; and investigates pesticide accidents or incidents and consumer complaints on pesticide misuse.
