Oil Operations Permit
General Info - Statewide Permit
Any person who stores 10,000 gallons or more of oil intended to be used as a motor fuel, lubricant or fuel source in above ground tanks, or stores 1,000 gallons or more of used oil, who transports oil in or out of Maryland oroperates an oil transfer facility must obtain this permit from the State of Maryland.
Any person who stores LESS than 10,000 gallons of
non-edible oil in above ground tanks, LESS than
1,000 gallons of used oil or ANY quantity of edible
oil not intended to be used as a motor fuel, lubricant
or fuel source is NOT required to apply for this
permit. These facilities are still responsible for
meeting specific spill reporting, construction and
attendance requirements in COMAR 26.10.01.
