General Info - Statewide Permit
Permit required for HVAC work in residential occupancies.
The type of work that requires an HVAC Permit includes:
- HVAC installations in new construction.
- Any conversion of electric to another energy source.
- Additions and alterations that require installation of new HVAC systems.
- Replacement HVAC equipment when gas or oil fired, or when a geothermal tax credit is being sought regardless of energy source.

Each application should include a simplified, but accurate plan drawn to scale which should include:
An information block with the:
- Specific building address (not lot number);
- Name of the company or person doing work;
- Name of the licensee and their signature;.
- State license registration number;
- Scale used; and
- North arrow
AND

Rooms, windows, exterior doors, or other relevant construction features including, but not limited to, skylights, porches, or attic access to equipment that may affect the integrity of the HVAC system and its installation; AND

A line drawing of HVACR system components superimposed on the plan showing the location, dimension, and relevant elements, including, but not limited to:
- Interior or exterior HVACR equipment;
- Duct trunk lines and transitions;
- Branch ducts/run-outs, dampers, and registers with CFM ratings;
- Thermostats;
- Return ducts and grills;
- Ducts insulations;

A summary of Manual J calculations for the proposed work which include the following information:
- Equipment summary including manufacturer, model number and BTU's input and output;
- Summary of heat load for each zone plus the entire dwelling;
- Room-by-room analysis
