General Info - Statewide License
The Department issues this statewide Maryland license as a service in order to allow owners of fleet vehicles to perform official emissions inspections on their fleets or, in the case of automobile dealers, to inspect both their own fleets and/or those belonging to other automobile dealers.

The prospective FIS must own or operate a fleet of at least 25 vehicles, maintain a repair facility, employ a Master Certified Emissions Technician, and possess specific equipment and tools.

The facility agrees to participate in the Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program’s quality assurance program by calibrating the analyzer at least once a week and participating in a cost free, monthly, quality assurance audit.
