The Apprentice Limited Barber license, as issued by the state of Maryland, is a two year permit that allows candidate to learn limited barbering as an apprentice to a Master Barber in a licensed barbershop or beauty salon. Chemical services are not covered under of the scope of Limited Barber Stylists.

Both the sponsor and the apprentice must participate in an orientation class administered by the Board. Once your completed application is approved we will notify you with a date to attend next available orientation session.
Applicant must complete an application and sponsorship form that must be signed by a master barber and shop owner.

Why the License is required?
The Maryland Board of Barbers qualifies and licenses individuals seeking licensure and issues permits to business entities through which the trade of barbering is practiced. The Board also establishes health and safety standards for the operation of barbershops and trade schools.
