MDOT Freight Rail Grant Program Application

Freight Rail Grant Program

The MDOT Freight Rail Grant Program (FRGP) is a state-funded, competitive, reimbursable grant program administered by the Office of Rail and Intermodal Freight (RIF) of the Secretary’s Office at MDOT. The FRGP offers state grant assistance to local jurisdictions, railroads, business and commercial interests, and other key agencies to help preserve railroad corridors, support economic development, and foster sustainability and innovative technologies.

The program is designed to make targeted investments that would allow MDOT to better leverage existing infrastructure, assets, and funding programs, and to help create a better pipeline of projects that address departmental goals of supporting a safe, secure, and resilient multimodal freight network.
