Transportation Community Enhancement Grant

Eligible community associations are those that are either wholly or partially situated within the 1998 certified noise zone for BWI Marshall Airport or in a border extending 2 miles outside of the certified noise zone.

Communities which fall within the specified area, may identify transportation-related community enhancement projects such as streetscapes, bus shelters, sidewalks, speed humps, streetlights, transportation safety items, or other similar projects, and request funding for them through this program.

Review the steps - read carefully

  1. Guidelines

    Submit completed applications per the Community Enhancement Grant Guidelines.

  2. Completed Applications Include:

    • A color map identifying the specific location of the proposed project.

    • At least two (2) cost estimates that are specific to the proposed project.

    • Color photographs that clearly demonstrate a need for the proposed project.

    • Current Certificate of Status from the MD Dept of Assessments and Taxation.

    • Financial statements and income tax forms for the last two years.

    • Completed IRS Form W-9

  3. Incomplete Applications

    Incomplete grant application packages will not be considered.

  4. Attach Two PDFs - PDF #1

    PDF #1 should contain application package without financial statements and income tax forms

  5. PDF #2

    PDF #2 should contain financial statements and income tax forms, including IRS Form W-9

What Happens After Submission

Read carefully

  1. MDOT MAA Grant Application Review

    Applications will be reviewed for completeness by MDOT MAA after submission.

  2. Complete Applications

    Complete and correct applications will be sent to the committee for review.

  3. Committee Consideration

    All complete and correct applications will be considered by the committee in the order in which they were received.

  4. Incomplete Applications

    The originator of the application will be notified by MDOT MAA

  5. Quarterly Cycle Grant Application Review

    Only grant applications received by the quarterly cycle deadline, which is typically thirty (30) days prior to the committee meeting, will be reviewed at the next appropriate quarterly meeting.

  6. Grant Cycle Dates

    Each cycle submission deadline and Committee meeting dates shall be posted on the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Aviation Administration (MDOT MAA) website.

  7. Applications Received After Deadline

    Applications received after the quarterly cycle deadline may be held by MDOT MAA, in its discretion, until the next grant cycle.
