Maryland Food and Agricultural Resiliency Mechanism Grant Program (MFARM) - FY25
The Maryland Food and Agricultural Resiliency Mechanism Grant Program (MD FARM) helps people who are food insecure while providing a market for farmers and seafood providers.
Grant Project Period
July 1, 2025 - November 30, 2026
Eligibility
Maryland food banks, charitable emergency food providers and mission-driven nonprofits with a focus on food insecurity\food access that are registered and are in Good Standing with Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation.
Nonprofits must also be registered as a charity with the Maryland Secretary of State.
An official and signed within the past 2 years W-9 form will be required by all applicants to include in their application. This allows MDA to verify an organization’s name, address, and tax identification number. The address on the W-9 form must match the address of the organization applying to the grant.
If you have an established relationship with producers from the Certified Local Farm and Fish Directory, you will need to provide a Letter of Support from the producers.
Amount
Funding Availability: $200,000
Minimum Request: $5,000
Maximum Request: $40,000
Funding Formula: Grant funding will prioritize agricultural and seafood products with a minimum 80% allocation with the remaining 20% supporting distribution and operational expenses.
Eighty percent of the funds shall be disbursed upon execution of the Agreement between MDA and grant recipient, while the remaining grant funds shall be disbursed after grant recipient has submitted a satisfactory final program and final report.
Matching Funds
No specific match is required.
Reporting Requirements
Grantees are required to record expenditures and submit a final report with the MDA.
Application Due Date
This is a highly competitive grant. You are encouraged to apply early. Applications submitted past the deadline will not be accepted.

What Happens After Submission

Review and Approval
MDA conducts a Due Diligence check on all Applicants to confirm eligibility, tax status, and standing with the IRS and the State of Maryland. Final approval of applications will be determined by the Secretary of Agriculture based on the recommendations from the Independent Grant Review Panel.

Notification to Applicant
All Applicants will be notified by email of their status through the OneStop account. Emails to Applicants approved for funding may include any changes in scope or budget.

Grant Agreement
Awardees are required to execute a grant agreement. MDA will email the grant agreement to grantee via email listed in OneStop. Funding will not be released until the Grant Agreement is signed by the Applicant.

Reporting
Grantees are required to record expenditures and file a final program and fiscal report with MDA. See above for a Sample MFARM Grant Report.
